This morning in Old Testament we learned about Elijah, and we discussed the distinguishing characteristics between prophets, seers, and revelators. Good lecture, Grandpa Ludlow.
Dr. Musallam cannot get a visa to come back into Israel from Bethlehem, so Brother Huntington taught our class today. It was very good, and, despite missing the cultural experience that Dr. Musallam could provide, we all enjoyed class thoroughly and some people secretly wish that we could keep Brother Huntington as our teacher. He detailed the origins of Islam, and we all learned a lot. It helped us put the things we've been learning in perspective.
Later that afternoon, a group of us--Jocelyn, Rebekah, Sam, Nichelle, and I--went into town to go to the Dormition Abbey. The church was beautiful and had lots of mosaic, which I love, and symbology. It was very interesting and lovely. We then decided to mosey on home through the old city which turned into something of an adventure. We meandered our way down the streets, stopping when something peaked our interest, and explored some less traveled roads. I have decided that before I leave I want to spend a whole day in the old city just wandering around. Something very critical that took place was my triumph in not purchasing anything--a feat which I have accomplished few times since arriving.
We came home and I did a little homework and organized a study group for Ophir's class. Next, I was sucked into Footloose, and I sat in classroom 3 and watched a very poor copy of the movie be projected on the big screen. Fun day, although not incredibly productive. I learned a lot and had a good time. The end.
