Bro. Ludlow's class
Journal Entry
Today we woke up in the Galilee at Ein Gev next to the Sea of Galilee. Some people didn't get lunches today because some tourists thought they were complimentary from Ein Gev. We went to Akko, Muhraqa (Mt. Carmel) and Caesarea.
At the beginning of the day just after I got on the bus Nick came on looking for Keri and Maggie's stash of food. I helped him find their "sustenance" (bread and chocolate) so he could sneak it off the bus. This was in response to Maggie and Bryan stealing some lunches from the other bus. I got to watch as just as we were pulling away Maggie noticed that her food was gone. She eventually found out who stole it and took it back.
For most of the stops today we were combined with Bro. Draper's class and Bro. Huntington taught us. Akko (Ptolemies) was pretty neat. It is amazing to me that so much of this huge fortress has been preserved from so long ago. There is a great hall that they are trying to restore that many people use for wedding receptions. Ashley Eskelsen said she would like to have hers there anyway.
Bro. Ludlow taught us while we were at Mt. Carmel. This is his favorite place. It was a little cloudy so we couldn't see everything but it was neat to think that that place was where Elijah called down fire from Heaven. Despite the long line up for the girls bathroom I still learned a lot from the bit of the lecture I heard.
Caesarea was my favorite place of the entire day. I loved walking along the shore of the Mediterranean Sea. The fortress was beautiful too. I thought it was amazing how Herod built a city like that in so short of time. This fortress shifted the focus of imports from Egypt to Israel.
The bus ride home was fun as well. I got to talk to some people that I hadn't talked too much when I wasn't sleeping.
When we got home we played soccer. There were tons of people playing. A couple people got hurt but it was still fun to play for a while especially after being on the bus for so long.
This was a very fun, educational day in Galilee. I can't wait to go back and see more!
