We’re in Egypt. It’s official. Hooray!
After a brief, breakfast at the Kibbutz we all hopped in our buses for the Taba Border Crossing. Going through customs was remarkably smooth and without significant incident (which makes writing this entry even harder and probably more boring). And now we’re here, driving through Egypt… which is in Africa, which is one more continent to take off my check list.
We only had two rest stops on our 6 hour venture. The first was a break for lunch, and can I just say that that place was sketchy, very sketchy. The tables and floor were nasty dirty. I had to Purell everything. And don’t even get me started on those bathrooms. Ew!! Very stinky! The floors were covered with water, and in a few of the ‘stalls’ I actually saw poop on the floor. Anyways, I don’t want to dwell on that too much, but it was definitely the most memorable ‘experience’ of the day.
The next stop was much less interesting. We came out, bathroom breaked, and then enjoyed the yummy, ever-traditional ice cream bars. Two words- Nok Out. Mmmm!
That night we stayed at an amazing hotel, The Oasis Pyramid Hotel. We had access to a playground, courts, and pool. It was pretty much everything that a hotel should be. As soon as we arrived, everyone ran to their rooms and changed directly to swimsuits. At the pool we played all the traditional pool games Chicken, Marco-Polo, Sharks and Minnows… the usual.
That night after dinner people split off in their various groups. Some went off to the mall and walked around. I hear they got kissed by a bunch of young boys… you’ll have to clarify that more with them… sounds iffy. I’m not sure what other groups did. I swung and enjoyed some girl talk and later caught up with a group playing signs at the basketball courts. Good fun. Good times. Good night.
